An easterner by birth, Mitzy moved to Stony Brook in 1966 when her husband took a position with the then nascent State University. Although they lived and worked in four countries and 5 states they both fell in love with the three village area and so after 42 years are still here. Their three children attended the three village schools and are now grown and scattered, but Mitzy and her husband continue to take advantage of the recreational and cultural facilities of the area and (via the convenient rail service) also of Manhattan.
Mitzy has been an active real estate broker for more than a third of a century and as a result, has had the pleasure of meeting a diverse group of people, many of whom have become long standing friends and colleagues. She has been able to advise both buyers and sellers in their real estate endeavours to good effect. Recently she has stepped down as a founding owner and partner at Hickey and Smith Realtors but continues to serve as a broker at this firm.
